Crowning Ceremony for 2022 Youth Sister Circle Cohort 1

YSC’s Crowning Ceremony served as an graduation for our young participants. At the ceremony, the girls were able to reflect on their growth and the various skills developed throughout the workshop sessions. Our program facilitators and creators Felicia Webb (Founder of YBFE, Inc.), Charnel Chaney (Owner of Bold Yoga LLC), Latasha Jones (Owner of Elevated Approach), and AziyrahThePoet (Founder of Milli Moms) shared words of encouragement and pleas for the girls to continue the work. Each participant was crowned to signify their graduation, rebirth, and promise to strive to become the best individual they could be, to love on themselves, and give themselves grace for mistakes because they are all learning opportunities.

YSC’s 5-week program focused on cultivating a safe space at Yards Park in SE, Washington. DC. for young girls, ages 9-16, to bond and share their feelings and emotions about their life and community experiences to encourage a collaborative development of of supportive coping strategies. Bold Yoga LLC guided the girls in an intense hour of yoga and mediation with positive affirmation routines. Elevated Approach facilitated intimate conversations about trauma, its influence on our social-emotional health, healing and coping strategies. Milli Moms lead a circle with the older girls about puberty, personal care and hygiene, and relationships. YBFE’s ‘Know Thyself: Defining SELF Concept” Workshop series. They will study and work towards understanding their own physical and psychological strengths, weaknesses, limitations, and influences to reinforce a positive self-concept to strengthen confidence, self-esteem and sense of worth.

It was amazing to see the girls a little more confident in themselves and their future. They are beginning to think more about who they are, who they want to be, and the potential paths they may have to take to accomplish their goals. We are awaking young queens who will run the world in the near future!!!!
